Exhibition opens Wed, March 6, 2013 at Isetan Shinjuku's special exhibition space, Park.
2013 is the 41st anniversary of Y's, and the 80th anniversary of Isetan Shinjuku.
The new Isetan Shinjuku special exhibition space, Park, which will open on March 6 of this year, will be the site of an art project by Y's and photographer Rowland Kirishima.
Note: The project will also viewable from the Y's website and other Y's locations.
Y's began in 1972, led by the concept of women wearing men's apparel. Until this very day it has continued to create fashion for working women who cherish independence and timeless philosophy.
In this homage to working women who live in the now Rowland Kirishima has photographed 41 "Women on the Move", representing a wide range of careers, ages, and nationalities, wearing Y's apparel. The 41st woman will be selected through open applications among Y’s customers and will attend a live photo session.
Photographs of these vibrant women will be on display throughout the year at East Park, together with exclusive Y's products.
The following women will be featured as "Women on the Move", representing the 2013SS season, Musician and actress Mari Natsuki, actress Ai Hashimoto, Nippon Television NEWS ZERO anchorwoman Chiaki Horan, figure skater Fumie Suguri, Chim↑Pom member Ellie, jazz orchestra composer and conductor Maria Schneider, flutist Kaoru Namba, Paralympic long jumper Mami Sato, and more
